Many cases of rising damp are not visually obvious and are detected during building surveys conducted during the buying/selling process. In cases of prolonged dampness to walls, rising damp can present itself by visible damp patches to walls, along with hygroscopic salts on the surface of the wall. This was our client’s concern when we were asked to visit a property in Ilford recently. The bay window of the home had visible signs of rising damp. Treatment for this defect involved the removal of the wall plaster and the injection of a damp proof course. The walls have been replastered with waterproof renderings and with our guarantees in place our client can rest assured Kenwood have taken care of the issue.
