Damp Treatment in Rochester.
/ Rochester / Completed: 22 Jan 2016
Kenwoods have just completed works to a beautiful detached home in Rochester. Built in the 1900’s this property was found to be suffering from rising damp within the ground floor bedroom. Rising damp occurs when there is a defect with the original damp proof course; this allows moisture from the ground to ‘rise up’.
Treatment for rising damp involves the removal of wall plaster to expose the bare brick work. The mortar course is then injected with a chemical damp proof course. The treated walls are then re-rendered and skim finished using render containing, among other ingredients, salt inhibitors and fibres to prevent shrinkage cracking. With our works competed we recommend the treated walls are left to dry prior to redecoration.
