Extensive treatment for Dry Rot
Rot Treatment / Waltham Abbey / Completed: 17 Sep 2015
Kenwood’s have just completed dry rot project in Waltham Abbey. Following a concealed plumbing problem beneath our clients living room floor, Kenwood were called to investigate. Dry rot is caused when timbers come into contact with damp masonry and the resulting rot can be very destructive. Extensive mycelium fungus had developed which aids the spread of the dry rot as the fungus is able to source new timber. Dry rot attacks the timber and results in completely destroying the integrity of the floor.
This particular outbreak required Kenwood to remove the entire floor, sterilise the oversite and surrounding masonry. Following the removal and treatment of the fungal attack, we then replaced the sleeper walls, wall plates, joists, and floor boards.
